NORML Daily Audio Stash Groovin' Thrusday Tune

Blog December 4th, 2009

Nerdcore hip-hop is possibly one of the weirdest names for any genre of music to ever be made up. You would think the definition would entail the artists are nerds who rap. But, that’s not all true. Call an artist like mc chris Nerdcore rapper and you will probably see the gangsta’ appear more than the nerd. So, we wont put mc chris in that category.

If you’re familiar with Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network you might be familiar with mc chris’s voice and work. He has wrote for and voiced characters for numerous shows on the network including Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, and one of my all time favorites Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. mc chris has been offered numerous record deals from large and small labels, most recently ‘Psychopathic Records’ the home of I.C.P. offered mc a spot on the roster. But, they’ve all been denied by the artist as he has chosen to stay independent and has been successful in doing so. With a song named ‘Wiid’ its hard to say mc chris is not a fan of marijuana, so I just wont say it.

We also chat with Nash of the Colorado Medical Marijuana Information Line (877-MMJ-Line) about the informational ‘411′ type number he has set up for Colorado Medical Marijuana patients to utilize in finding dispensaries and also reviewing the products they obtain from the dispenses.

The Stone Zone Show on JDR

Shows July 1st, 2009

Get in touch and learn more about The Stone Zone Show
The STONIEST show on the planet. Enjoy.

Stone Zone Show

Why we are delayed this week and wanted one of the best produced and funniest radio shows/podcasts anywhere to fill in at WeedWatch… Sometimes those life problems that pop up just get the best of you. While trying to pick up co-host Derek from his dispensary one hour north of Denver in Windsor, Colorado and get him and me back to the studio in time for our interviews and show production today, my car stopped running. In the middle of the highway in 80 MPH traffic. Good times it was. I was picking up Derek because his car was overheating badly and needed to be taken to the shop and therefore didn’t have any wheels to Denver. So, two car situations today and two delayed interviews, equal no show till at least Thursday night.

I do have some interesting conversations happening this week on the growth of JDR. After a few meetings and chats with some prospective new correspondents from well known faces in the Marijuana Podcast “industry”, I will have some news or something of that sort along the information and progress line to toss to y’all. Hopefully making this week not a total frustration.

Thanks to Mason Tvert of S.A.F.E.R. and Naresh of the Colorado Medical Marijuana Information Line (877-MMJ-Line) for being extremely cool about rescheduling with us. Hopefully Thursday Derek can get down to the studio to do the show and we can bring you this weeks JDR goodness.

PS- For this small inconvenience we will probably toss another giveaway into the mix ASAP. A super cool new tokin’ product.

House Appropriations Committee Seeks Clarification on Medical Marijuana Policy

Cannabis News June 9th, 2009

It is becoming more and more clear the stance the Obama administration is taking on Medical Marijuana.  There is more good news and hopefully a continued indication of  good progress in the fight for patient rights.  Just got this from the MPP:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
JUNE 9, 2009

House Appropriations Committee Seeks Clarification on Medical Marijuana Policy
Amendment Seeks Explanation in Light of Attorney General Holder’s Recent Statements

CONTACT: Bruce Mirken, MPP director of communications …………… 202-215-4205 or 415-585-6404

WASHINGTON, D.C. — In light of recent statements by Attorney General Eric Holder indicating that the Obama administration would not pursue prosecutions of individuals involved in medical marijuana activities sanctioned by state law, the House Appropriations Committee has added language seeking clarification of the new policy to the Commerce-Justice-Science appropriations bill.

The language, sponsored by Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.), states, “There have been conflicting public reports about the Department’s enforcement of medical marijuana policies. Within 60 days of enactment, the Department shall provide to the Committee clarification of the Department’s policy regarding enforcement of federal laws and use of federal resources against individuals involved in medical marijuana activities.”

In past years, Hinchey and Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) have sponsored an amendment aimed at ending Drug Enforcement Administration raids on state-legal medical marijuana patients and providers. But in recent months, Attorney General Eric Holder has disavowed any intent to pursue such attacks. Last week, Holder told KOB-TV in Albuquerque, “For those organizations that are doing so sanctioned by state law and do it in a way that is consistent with state law, and given the limited resources that we have, that will not be an emphasis for this administration. … Medicinal marijuana … that is something for the states to decide.”

“We are glad to see the federal government finally moving toward sanity on medical marijuana,” said Marijuana Policy Project director of government relations Aaron Houston. “No one battling serious illness and following their state’s laws should live in fear of our federal government, and we look forward to clear assurances that suffering patients will be left alone.”

With more than 27,000 members and 100,000 e-mail subscribers nationwide, the Marijuana Policy Project is the largest marijuana policy reform organization in the United States. MPP believes that the best way to minimize the harm associated with marijuana is to regulate marijuana in a manner similar to alcohol. For more information, please visit http://MarijuanaPolicy.org.

Marc Emery Audio Collection on John Doe Radio

Blog June 6th, 2009

“My lawyer of four years (Ian Donaldson) just said to me straight, ‘Marc, the United States has never lost an extradition request when asking Canada”

We have enjoyed having Marc Emery on the show and will continue to enjoy having him on.  I think we are insane to put him behind bars, and the strength and perseverance showed by him and his lovely wife Jodie is nothing short of inspiring.  Please take sometime to go back and listen to some recent JDR’s with Marc Emery, and the most recent podcast with Jodie Emery.  I will eventually single out all of the JDR interviews for seperate downloading in case some of you dont enjoy the more “up to date production and music” on the show ;)

Most of the interviews are close to an hour of Marc giving his opinions on everything from Marijuana reform to American politics, to what vaporizer he chooses when he vapes.  I have a special place in my heart for Marc because of the kind words he tossed my way during my ordeal.  Not to mention the inspiration and drive he gives off.  Enjoy and please stay supportive.  Keep the emails and letters rolling asking for this injustice to be righted.

Marc always told me “It’s not the end of the world” and “There is always something to do or talk about in jail.”  So, I expect fully we will have many things to read about, chat and discuss regarding The Prince of Pot IF, IF he goes to prison for a few years.  Lets hope this fed judge makes everyones jaws drop and gives Marc probation.

ps- It will be VERY nice to see people someday soon, the Heroes of this movement and everyday Joe’s like you and me, safe from spending any time locked up and imprisoned.  We areally are this crazy arent we?!
