Our Plans For The New Year…

Blog December 30th, 2009

First of all, BIG Thanks to Ben Word for the JDR.com redesign.  I think it looks great and I am very happy to have a home that looks worthy.

We are stoked to be starting some serious preparation this week for the next Volume of JDR.  We are happy to bring you a weekly podcast starting January 6th, 2010.  The plan is to eventually not only make the weekly podcast available, but to also work in other small pieces of special downloadable programming too.  Like music specials and short Weekly/Monthly News wrap-ups.  We are confident we will continue to offer the same high-quality information, entertainment, and music that you have always heard and loved on the JDR Show.  I have no doubt with the addition of our two co-hosts, Derek and December, that you will find something you agree with and take from our future conversations and interviews.  I have received so many suggestions and almost all of them can be implemented at some point.

We will be bringing in some new people, events, and sponsors to make for some big changes in the coming year.  The first of which that has signed up is Colorado’s very own Silver Surfer Vaporizer’s courtesy of www.TokinsVapes.com.  We will be giving away a Silver Surfer Vaporizer every other month on the show, and look for some awesome SSV accessories to be given away to go with the SSV.   And, as far as I can tell from what we have planned for the New Year, JDR will become a fully professional money making entity via one mean or another.  It is going to be a huge concentration of the show  in getting the JDR name out to where it needs to be and catering for the companies and consumers that make the most sense to advertise and pitch to on JDR.

I also have a very large project I am working on that deals with more than just JDR.  I hope to bring you news on that towards the end of January.  I truly feel no one could put together what I am trying to do.  I have worked hard to try and create a product many people can trust and be proud of.  We have not made many enemies at JDR, if any. (At least on the good side we haven’t.)  I hope to see the fruits of this labor start to ripen soon.

The cheesy part of all this as they say, and could not be a truer statement almost all of the time including in our case here at JDR, none of these plans above or anything else we do mean darn thing without you the listener.  So, from the bottom of my heart I thank you.  I truly love what I do, and every step taken since the start of this show, including my raid and arrest, has made me believe more and more in what we do in this Marijuana Movement to better the lives of those who choose to use Marijuana.

Can you imagine what is in store for 2010 and Marijuana?!

Thank you again.  I look forward to many, many shows ahead with you all.

We are not the crazy ones.  We are the strong.  We are the voice of the people.

Yours truly,

Tim Martin

NORML Daily Audio Stash Groovin’ Thursday: Pace Won and Mr. Green – “Children Cry”

Blog December 14th, 2009

From Newark, New Jersey Pace Won and Mr. Green form the classic Hip-Hop combo of one MC and one DJ. The true skills of Hip-Hop have been lost on the surface of the music scene and unless you dig deep into the folds of the net to find what you are looking for you may never come across hardcore Hip-Hop again. (Or, in my case were lucky enough to have it sent to you.) With digital production and creation of music the art of a turntablist has been somewhat lost. Classic Hip-Hop cannot thrive without the full instruments of its trade, just like any other genre of music. The voice of the MC and his lyrics, and the DJ with his scratches and beats are the simple yet effective tools of Hip-Hop, and its hard sometimes to distinguish which one gives more to the soul of the jam. Pace Won brings you smooth lyrics and Mr. Green pounds you with the beats to bring you what is missing from today’s Hip-Hop. Classic beats and classic rhymes.

Blog December 4th, 2009

Nerdcore hip-hop is possibly one of the weirdest names for any genre of music to ever be made up. You would think the definition would entail the artists are nerds who rap. But, that’s not all true. Call an artist like mc chris Nerdcore rapper and you will probably see the gangsta’ appear more than the nerd. So, we wont put mc chris in that category.

If you’re familiar with Adult Swim on the Cartoon Network you might be familiar with mc chris’s voice and work. He has wrote for and voiced characters for numerous shows on the network including Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Sealab 2021, and one of my all time favorites Space Ghost: Coast to Coast. mc chris has been offered numerous record deals from large and small labels, most recently ‘Psychopathic Records’ the home of I.C.P. offered mc a spot on the roster. But, they’ve all been denied by the artist as he has chosen to stay independent and has been successful in doing so. With a song named ‘Wiid’ its hard to say mc chris is not a fan of marijuana, so I just wont say it.
