Thoughts After The Election…

Blog November 5th, 2008

I guess time will tell on what kind of mark Obama will make on history.

But strangely, after he was elected last night I felt more comfortable in my country, and with my place in this country.

After watching all the revelry happen outside the White House, and the partying in Chicago. It hit me that I have never seen the people enjoy more of a success in an election. I have never experienced watching anything like what happened last night, and I think it’s safe to say that most of us haven’t either. We reached a huge mark in our history as America, with not just electing a black President, but also coming together again, and overwhelmingly telling the people in charge what we want and how we want it done.

We as Americans shifted our destiny and said enough is enough, we want a change, and we want to start building a new road. I heard a commentator on FOX describe the events from a Europeans stand point. May not be every persons opinion who lives out side the US but I thought it was an insightful look at us. The person said America is great because of how creative we are, And how we can reinvent ourselves and change the coarse of where we are going with such ease and cooperation. We are a creative enough Nation that when we see a problem, we come together as one, and move to correct that problem by making any move necessary, and the key to what he said, REINVENT ourselves. Reinvent everything the world thought they knew about us and completely change coarse. I like the opinion of that European.

When was the last time people partied, and celebrated in the streets, en masse, to welcome a new president. I can’t think of another time in my short time on this earth. But to see it happen and to see how fired up we are as Americans for our country. It just made me so proud, and so happy to be an American in a time where we decide what we are and who we become.

Just a few thoughts from yesterday, thanks for reading.  Now back to the vaporizer and show prep.

PS- Dont think Obama will change Marijuana laws!  Reform is still up to us on the local level.  VP Elect Biden is one of the worst people ever to hit Washington concerning The War on Drugs.  He is responsible for a large part of the formation of what it is today, and also responsible for most of the mandatory minimum sentencing that happens.

Two steps forward, one step back.

Stay on JDR for a Marijuana Intiative wrap-up with NORML Executive Director Allen St. Pierre NEXT WEEK!
